Be Good To Your Parents

Be Good To Your Parents Don't Do Things That Aren't Right.

These Words Are From A Woman Who Hopes To Share Some Light.

So Here's A Little Story For You To Think About

I Pray That When I'm Finished,You Will Know Without A Doubt.

If You Are On A Path That Isn't Very Good

And To Them You Do Not Listen When You Know You Should,

That When I'm At The End I Hope That You Will See,

That Being Good To Your Parents Is The Way To Be.

When I Was Just A Child I Wanted Things My Way,

I Ran Around On The Streets All Throughout The Day.

I Never Listened To My Mom Who Tried So Very Hard,

If She Gave An Inch I Would Take A Yard.

I Wouldn't Go To School… I Played Hooky All The Time.

Then I Started Drinking And The Next Thing I Did Find,

I Was Living On My Own And I Didn't Have A Dime,

In A World So Cruel And Always So Unkind.

So I Started Working A Job That Wasn't Cool,

At Thirteen, I Was Dancing And Acting Such A Fool.

For I Could Not Write, Neither Could I Read.

I Now Had Children Of My Own Which I Had To Feed.

So, I Started Working A Job That Was So Bad.

Everyday I Went To Work But I Was Very Sad.

It Was Then That I Did See I Had Missed So Much,

Like Footballs Games, The Prom, Dances, My Graduating And Such.

But Most Of All I Had Missed An Education Freely Given,

All Because My Mind Was Made Up That I Wanted To Be Living,

Out There On My Own And Not Under My Mother's Rules.

All Because Of This, I Dropped Out Of School.

The Road Was So Hard And How I Missed A Lot.

Only Because Of Jesus Can I Thank Him That I've Got

A Relationship With Mom I Now Hold Dearly To My Soul.

For She's Been The One Who Does Truly Know,

Just What It Has Taken, Just How Hard It's Been,

For Us To Restore, Yes For Us To Mend,

Because For Many Years Her Heart Was Broke In Two,

Over All The Things I'd Done, The Things I'd Put Her Through.

So, Be Good… To Your Parents, No Don't Make Them Cry.

Can You See Within This Story, Can You See The Reason Why?

Yes, They May Have Rules But They Know What's Best For You.

So, Be Good… To Your Parents And Do All That You Can Do,

To Make Your Life It's Best, Yes One That's Fun To Live.

Be Good… To Your Parents And Give All That You Can Give!
