I PRAYED
I prayed.
I cried out in my agony, and sank in deep despair,
And God sent bands of angels to protect and meet me there.
I prayed.
‘Twas just the faintest whisper as I battled with my pain,
But God gave rest and strength so I could face the world again.
I prayed.
When I confessed my secret sins and utter worthlessness,
Then God forgave and cleansed my heart, so He my life could bless.
I prayed.
And God, Who knows my deepest need before I even pray,
Already had the answer given, speeding on its way.
I prayed.
And even though God didn’t choose to grant me my request,
Or give me what I asked for, still He gave me what was best.
I wonder what I’ve missed in blessings that have passed me by,
And how, through me, God could have changed my world, if only I…
Had prayed.
