Coming to Our Senses

Part Three

Looking into Our Father’s Eyes

When I first began this study on 'See No Evil', I had never given a study before. I needed the Lord to give me the right words to use. And I discovered He sometimes uses resources we never would have thought. Our Lord is Awesome, because for this study He used a simple song. I had been listening to the radio, when I heard the song 'My Father's Eyes' by Eric Clapton. The words in this song gave me the insight I needed. I don't know the true meaning to Eric Clapton's song, but my own interpretation was that we must always look into our true Father's eyes. He gives us the sight necessary to see Him. (2 Corinthians 5:7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight.") Our focus is to always look into our 'Fathers Eyes'.

Blindness

The world around us has many beautiful and wonderful things the human eyes can see. We can see ocean waves crashing on the rocks at the beach, the majesty of the mountains in the distance, birds flying high in the sky, a deer walking in the meadow at dawn, and much, much more. Our heavenly father has other wondrous things to show us if we open our spiritual eyes. If our eyes are shut, we miss out on receiving his blessings.

"[Seeing many things, but thou observest not]; opening the ears but he hears not"
Isaiah 42:20

But if we start looking toward the things of the world, and not towards Jesus, we can become blind to his Word. The world can be deceptive and lead us astray. We need to stay watchful and aware to the things God wants us to see.

Discernment

In our daily walk in Christ's word, we need to use discernment. Our parents taught us when we were young the values of right and wrong, and we took those same values into adulthood. The moment that we asked Jesus into our hearts we took on a different set of instructions. But God gave us something to help us along the way. He gave us the Bible.

With our eyes, we can read his words and learn His will. We, as believers, also must be an example for others around us. People see our actions, and how we've changed by the way w live for Christ. If our sight is not on Him, we begin to stumble.

"But take heed lest by any means this liberty (power) of yours becomes a stumblingblock to them that are weak".
1 Corinthians 8:9

We need to keep our eyes on Jesus, and not lose sight of His purpose for us -- to be strong and use discernment in our walk with Him.

"He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and [shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;]
Isaiah 33:15

Our Future (Seeing Jesus)

We can not see our future, but we can read God's word and see His plans for us. God has not allowed our physical eyes to see the sight of what is to come.

"And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them".
Job 37:21

How great it is to know that one day, we will be able to behold the Glory of Heaven and to see Jesus.

"Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is far off.
Isaiah 33:17

For now though, we must study his word, walk in his steps, and set an example for believers and non-believers, that they will see Jesus in us, and desire a future that will be awesome.
