These women were the first group that went to the tomb...they brought the spices and the oils and things needed to put on the dead. When the angels told them He had risen, they were the ones that ran into town and told the disciples.
They all thought they were not telling the truth except Peter who left to go see for himself.
Again in this scripture these women were offering of themselves, being true servants to the Lord. It was not the men that did these things ... though many of them had been healed and delivered. It was the women. It was also the women that the Lord first showed himself to.
Why? And Why were they the ones to see the truth of the resurrection first? Because this WAS their ministry and purpose. Because they served Him with all they had and did it willingly and lovinly out of true love for what He had done for them.
Special Note:
Mary called Magdeline had 7 demons come out. Joanna was mentioned as the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward (which showed her position in society, which must have been of importance for the Bible to let us know that). Previous scriptures state it was certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, i.e., Mary, then Joanna, then Susanna, and many others.
The scriptures are stating it was the ones that were delivered and healed...the ones that had reputations as being with evil spirits, the ones that were healed...all of these ministered and gave of their substance. It was not just the ordinary housewife. It was not the normal woman you would meet on the street. It was the ones that Jesus had touched and whose lives had been affected.
What did all these women have in common that made them willing to give of their services to the Lord – to go minister to him even in death?
Though Susanna was not mentioned again, I believe this was to show us it was the "touched" ones that went, whether well known as Joanna and Mary Magdeline, or as Susanna, a regular woman, but one that was touched by the Lord and healed or delivered.
