Miriam
Continued from Page 3

When she tried to pull rank on those closest to her she was disciplined for her rebellion against authority. But the Lord loved her a great deal and allowed her to make mistakes. She loved the Lord and served him all the days of her life.

A Mirarash teaches that a miraculous well accompanied the Hebrews throughout their journey in the desert, providing them with water. It has been said that God gave this “well” to Miriam, the prophetess, to honor her bravery and devotion to the Jewish people. Both Miriam and her well became a spiritual oasis in the desert … a source of sustenance and healing.

Her words of comfort gave the Hebrews the faith and confidence to over - come the hardships of the Exodus. Like Miriam, Jewish women in all generations have been essential for the rituals and recipes, from mother to daughter, from generation to generation.

Miriam Challenges the Women of the Word:

What can we learn from Miriam?

  • To be an encourager to others
  • To sing unto the Lord praises for all He does
  • To be bold in the Lord
  • To submit to those in authority over us
  • To pass down a godly heritage to our children
  • To not be a gossiper which can bring down a curse to ourselves
  • To hear God’s heart and to act on it through faith and trust.

Question for the Group:
Discuss how this study of Miriam has helped you in being all that Christ desires for your life.

Challenge:
How do you use the gifts He has given you?

Question for the Group:
Discuss ways in which you see yourself in Miriam.

Challenge:
What changes would you make in your life?
