Rahab
Continued from Page 3

Comparing Rahab's Life with Our Own...How do we fit in?

  • Her lifestyle shows us God is no respecter of persons.
  • Rahab shows us that all can come to salvation with the same promises of blessing.
  • Her past was forgiven when she acted on faith. God wiped her slate clean.
  • Rahab was singled out for a special purpose.
  • Rahab was faithful follower and had courage.
  • God placed a woman of dishonor into an honorable position.
  • Rahab and her family were given hope and salvation with the scarlet rope, which represented the sacrifice of the coming Messiah for sin and redemption.
  • Rahab took her place in the royal line to Jesus Christ with the husband God gave her.
  • She became a commendable woman of faith to the saints of old and new.

Question for the Group:
Discuss with the group their first thoughts about the harlot Rahab after reading about her in the book of Joshua and the other verses listed.

Challenge:
What is your standing with God compared to Rahab? Do you think it would be better to have been a harlot who found hope and salvation rather than to have not been a harlot who died with no hope? Explain your answer.

Question for the Group:
Read together the following verses as a group and discuss Rahab's deceptive answer to the king when he asked if she had the spies in her home. What else was going on there?
"So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, 'Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.' Then the woman (Rahab) took the two men and hid them. So she said, 'Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from. And it happened as the gate was being shut, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went I do not know; pursue them quickly, for you may overtake them.' (But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.)"
Joshua 2:3-6

Challenge:
Why do you think there was no condemnation in God's eyes?
