Her Ministry: Providing for the prophet Elijah not only food, but shelter as well. Also caring for the needs of her family, mainly her son.
Her Home Life: This woman lived in Zarephath, which was a Phoenician town on the Mediterranean coast. She was Simplistic; her needs were met day by day, moment by moment.
Her Status: Widow, which in Webster’s dictionary is defined as a woman whose husband has died and who has not remarried. Strong’s Concordance brings out the Hebrew meaning for “widow” in the following ways: " Almanah, a widow also a desolate place, desolate house (palace), in the Hebrew/Chaldean dictionary " in the sense of bereavement, discarded (as a divorced person): - forsaken1
Her Character: Willingness/obedience; displaying hospitality; kind; dedicated mother
Her Physical Attributes: None given.
Her ultimate purpose: Obedient servant to provide food for the prophet Elijah, and in doing so, increasing her Faith, trusting Elijah’s Lord.
