Note: Moses fled to Jethro’s home when he left Egypt at age 40. He ran into the seven sisters who were drawing water and gave them a hand. Afterwards he went home with them to see their father. They thought he was an Egyptian. His appearance made him look as if he was a son of Pharoah. Jethro took him in and gave him Zipporah, his eldest daughter for wife. Between them they had two sons, Gershon and Eliezer.

And the Lord said unto Moses in Midian, Go return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life. And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.
Exodus 4:19, 20 KJV
Note: Because Zipporah was a Midianite she did not share the same spiritual values as Moses. To keep peace in the home Moses decided to compromise with his unbelieving wife. When the time comes for him to circumcise his son Eliezer, according to Mosaic law, he didn’t follow through with it.

And it came to pass by the way (to Egypt) in the inn, that the Lord met him (Moses), and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
Exodus 4:24-26 KJV
